FAQ
Asked at the desk, weekly.
Is the Fairweather Bureau real?
No. The bureau, the valley, the stations, the keepers and every number on this site are invented for a design portfolio. Any resemblance to a real valley is a compliment to valleys.
Where do the numbers come from?
From the same place as the valley: imagination, shaped to look plausible. The hourly readings are written by hand to behave like a real station would.
Can I use the forecast for planning?
Please don't, and not because it's secret. It's fiction. For real weather where you live, use your national meteorological service.
How do I visit a station?
Thursday to Sunday, 10:00 to 16:00, no booking needed. Groups of eight or more should write ahead to the public desk.
Can I really become an observer?
In the story, yes: the co-op programme takes anyone in the valley with a level patch of ground and four minutes a day. Out here, the form is a demo and posts nothing.
Does the site collect my data?
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party fonts. The only thing stored is your choice of storm mode, in your own browser.
What happens to the forms I fill in?
Nothing. They are demonstration forms wired to a toast message, not to any server.
Who built this site?
Fo, as a fictional portfolio piece for Stephen Fehon. Everything on it is invented and non-commercial.
