About

A small bureau with a long ledger.

The Fairweather Bureau has watched the Kestrel Valley since 1934, when the valley council funded one hut, one thermometer and one very stubborn observer.

What we do

Twice-daily forecasts, hourly station readings, bulletins when the valley needs them, and a climate ledger that never skips a day. Ninety-two years, no gaps.

How we are funded

A standing grant from the valley council, a small share of the dam's water rates, and the proceeds of the annual almanac. No advertising, ever.

Who we are

Eleven staff, sixty-one volunteer observers, and three keepers at Point Brace who between them hold the valley's longest-running private fog diary.
